About Us
In the 8 years since we opened our first little shop in South Goa, Bunti has evolved in many ways, but the ethos remains the same. We created the brand around the core value of celebrating traditional artisan craft and supporting the skilled workers and the communities that they are part of. We have always wanted to create timeless and versatile pieces that can be treasured for a lifetime.
We believe the choice of clothing we wear can serve a greater purpose. All of our handmade collection features artisan-made textiles. These collaborations help to sustain heritage craft and provide ethical employment to the weavers, knitters, printers and their families.
We choose to work with small family run workshops across India, visiting several times a year to ensure happy and safe working environments and offering us the opportunity to appreciate the skill and care with every piece that is made.
We hope to promote an ethical and sustainable practice to the fashion industry whilst maintaining a conscious lifestyle for ourselves and for our children.

Our Makers
KNITWEAR
All of our knitwear is handmade in a small workshop in South India. The highly skilled women artisans from the surrounding villages often work from home in their spare time and in small groups. They are paid good wages and the benefits of free health care for their families as well as a retirement fund.
Each piece is created by hand and we feel any little imperfection is a part of its unique beauty.
HAND BLOCK PRINTING
We work with a small family-run workshop in Rajasthan. Each part of the process takes place in the community: block carving, dyeing, printing, washing and ironing. Blocks are carved by hand onto teak wood, which are then used to hand stamp the cotton laid onto tables. The sun sets the dyes as fabrics dry outside. Small imperfections from drips and edges of the blocks are sometimes visible and are only a sign of its individuality.
HANDLOOM WEAVING
A heritage craft practiced for hundreds of years, our weavers work from their homes in small rural villages in North East India. It is a very complicated, slow and labour- intensive project but no machine can replicate the hand feel and complex motifs of these fabrics. It is important not only to help preserve this craft but to also give constant employment to the weavers.

Caring For Your Knits
CARING FOR YOUR KNITS
With the right care your Bunti knits can last a lifetime and so here are some tips to help ensure they enjoy a happy, long life:
WOOL
We suggest hand washing your wool pieces in cold water with a gentle, natural soap.
Submerge your knitwear in the water, rub any stains and remove quickly.
Roll in a clean towel to absorb any excess water before laying flat to dry.
If you prefer to wash by machine, we recommend using the wool programme on cold (30 degrees or higher will cause damage & the wool to felt). Remove promptly and dry flat.
We do not recommend dry cleaning as the chemical can damage and weaken the wool.
COTTON
As our organic cotton knits are very pure and delicate we recommend hand washing using the gentlest soap possible.
Do not leave soaking as this can cause yellowing.
Remove all excess water by rolling in a fresh towel, then lay flat to dry in an airy space.
HAND BLOCK PRINTED COTTON
We recommend to wash your delicate hand block printed piece separately in cold water to ensure the printing is not damaged.
Hang to dry in an airy place and avoid direct sunlight to avoid the pigment to fade.
STORING YOUR KNITS
Store cotton pieces clean and folded.
Avoid hanging as it can stretch the fabric.
Store woollen pieces clean in a dry place with lavender sachets to prevent moths.
